Founded by scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs, the company transforms advanced research into practical, scalable solutions for the energy sector.
Our first innovation, CHEX Energy Storage, is an award-winning, internationally patented long-duration energy storage technology developed in Chile. Inspired by the concept of a virtual dam, the system uses compressed gas and water to provide a sustainable alternative to conventional energy storage without the use of harmful chemicals.

Our Origins
CHEX Energy Storage was developed by a multidisciplinary team of physicists and engineers from the Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María (USM) and the Centro Científico Tecnológico de Valparaíso (CCTVal), led by Dr. Christian Romero. The technology was created to address one of the greatest challenges of the global energy transition: providing sustainable, long-duration energy storage for renewable energy systems.
To bring this innovation from the laboratory to the market, CHEX was founded in 2020 by Dr. Christian Romero and Laurentzi de Sasia Rodríguez. As Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer, Laurentzi provides the strategic and commercial leadership needed to accelerate the technology's adoption, while Dr. Romero serves as Chief Executive Officer, leading its scientific and engineering development.
Today, CHEX combines scientific research, engineering expertise, and commercial vision to deliver innovative energy storage solutions that help reduce renewable energy curtailment, improve grid reliability, and support a cleaner, more sustainable energy future.
